Q:
How are the M60E4 and the Mk43 different?

They aren’t. The M60E4 and the Mk43 are the same weapon system. Mk43 simply is the U.S. Navy’s name for the M60.
Q:
How does the M60E4 differ from the standard M60?
A:
The M60E4/Mk43 features significant improvements over the standard M60. In addition to significant weight savings, the M60E4/Mk43 boasts more than 12 major improvements related to reliability.
Q:
Why don’t the M60 Series Machine Guns have a selective fire option?
A:
Because the lower cyclic rate of the M60E4/Mk43 affords effective, single and three-round burst fire, the guns don’t need a selective fire option.
Q:
Is the M60 still in service?
A:
Yes. The U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Navy SEALS, U.S. Coast Guard and foreign militaries worldwide all use it today.
